404) When To Have An HSG After Tubal Reversal
Dr. Berger recommends waiting for 6 months or longer after tubal reversal for a hysterosalpingogram (HSG). HSGs are associated with risks, pain, and have a high frequency of erroneous results.

The probability of pregnancy after tubal reversal surgery is related to a woman's age and amount and health of remaining tubes. There is no direct association with the length of time between the tubal ligation and the reversal.

As Dr. Berger's patients become pregnant, many keep their supportive friends on the message board informed of their progress - until eventually the happy time comes to announce to patients and staff the birth of a baby! This ecstatic mother receives congratulations, plus a "Berger baby" shirt!

424) Pre-Operative Blood Tests For Reversal Surgery
A complete blood count, HIV and Hepatitis C antibody and Hepatitis B surface antigen are required prior to your tubal reversal. They can be ordered by your local physician or we can fax an order to your doctor or a local lab. Results of lab tests are due in our office at least three weeks prior to the surgery date.

426) When To Have HSG Done?
If you are not pregnant within 6-12 months following surgery, Dr. Berger will recommend an HSG (hysterosalpingogram). Although HSG testing is the best method available for assessing tubal patency, the results are often inconclusive or inaccurate. Following your HSG, please instruct the radiologist to send a copy of the x-ray films as well as the typed report to Dr. Berger to review.
