134) Are Fertility Meds Needed After Reversal Surgery?
When a patient reports a pregnancy to Chapel Hill tubal Reversal Center, we inquire whether they have used ovulation predictor kits or fertility medications. The majority of women who become pregnant after surgery with Dr. Berger do so without fertility drugs. Many choose to temp and/or use OPK kits, but it is not necessary for achieving pregnancy.

146) Layers Of Fallopian Tube Repair
The fallopian tube has 3 layers. The inner layer (endothelium) has the cilia that help carry the egg from the ovary to the uterus. This delicate layer should not have suture material placed in it. The middle layer (muscularis) is made of muscle and connective tissue. This is the most important layer to bring together with sutures. When this layer is brought together, the inner and outer layers can heal over it spontaneously - with or without sutures. The outer layer (serosa) is a thin lining. I suture this layer as well as the important middle layer but avoid suturing the inner layer to minimize the risk of scar formation in the tubal lumen.
