1) Women Over 40 Have Pregnancy Success Too
Many women over 40 years of age wonder if they can still get pregnant after tubal reversal surgery. According to the data at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, there is hope for pregnancy after 40. As long as a woman is ovulating and still having regular periods, there is a chance for pregnancy. Some of the success is dependent upon what type of tubal ligation was performed. The greatest success for pregnancy in women over 40 came from having had tubal rings as the sterilization method; the success rate was 46%! Even after having had other methods of tubal ligation done, the success rate extended to 1 in 3 women over 40 being able to conceive. If a woman is over 40 years old and wishes to conceive, she should contact Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center today at (919) 968-4656 for more information.
2) Quitting Smoking To Prepare For Reverse Tubal Ligation Surgery
To quit smoking is a major priority for women preparing to have their fallopian tubes untied at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. They know smoking is not only unhealthy for them but also for a developing fetus. Dr. Gary Berger and Dr. Charles Monteith want women to be in optimum health prior to coming to Chapel Hill for tubal reversal surgery. Besides quitting smoking, women can help themselves by following a healthy diet and losing weight if necessary.
3) Having Tubes Untied After Bipolar Cautery Tubal Ligation
Many women who send their operative reports to Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center for evaluation of their chances of being a candidate for reverse tubal ligation find they had a bipolar cautery type of tubal ligation. This is a fairly common method of tubal ligation. During this procedure, electrical current is used to burn the tubes to prevent pregnancy from occurring. Fortunately, with bipolar current, the damage to the tubes is usually limited and, in our experience, this is generally a good situation for the reversal procedure to be successful. Dr. Gary Berger and Dr. Charles Monteith are able to restore the fertility of 98% of the women who travel to Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center.
4) Tubal Reversal Patient Upset At Check Up With OB/GYN
After having a very good experience getting her tubes untied at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center a member of the Message Board expressed her disappointment when she returned to her personal physician for her annual check-up. She said he became very negative when he found out she had tubal reversal surgery. He thought because she was in her forties IVF was her only option to have another baby. Apparently this doctor didn't know Dr. Gary Berger and Dr. Charles Monteith have performed over 10,000 reverse tubal ligations on women of all ages and the pregnancy success rate for those over the age 40 is 31%.
5) Reverse Tubal Ligation: Recommended Early Pregnancy Testing
For women who have had a reverse tubal ligation surgery, Dr. Gary Berger and Dr. Charles Monteith of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center recommend a blood pregnancy test be drawn as soon as a home pregnancy test is positive. The HCG levels should be drawn every 2-3 days until the levels reach 1500. In a normally progressing pregnancy, the hormone levels should double every 48 hours. If the pregnancy hormone levels do not double this usually indicates an abnormal pregnancy. This is part of the early pregnancy monitoring protocol the fertility specialists recommend for all of their patients who have a reverse tubal ligation.
